What is a good foreign exchange program?

I am a high school student who is very interested in visiting a different country. I want to become a foreign exchange student but I have a few guidelines.. The program cannot be too expensive (because of the economic standpoint, money is a little tight) and I do not want to be gone for a very long time. Any suggestions on where to apply??

  1. I think you should use either AFS (www.afs.org) or YFU (www.yfu.org).
  2. The top three are AFS, YFU and Rotary Exchange. Rotary is the cheapest, but most competitive. The other two both offer scholarships if you apply early enough and qualify. For a successful exchange, you must realize that you are NOT visiting. For a visit, buy a plane ticket and go. An exchange is living in and experience the culture for an extended period. A semester is minimum -- a year is better. Here are the sites of the three programs: http://www.yfu.org/ http://www.afs.org/afs_or/home http://www.rotary.org/en/StudentsAndYouth/youthprograms/RotaryYouthExchange/Pages/ridefault.aspx
  3. AFS, YFU, or Rotary are the best ones. Rotary being the cheapest, followed by YFU. Intrax has good prices, but I've heard that they have a bad reputation...
  4. AFS YFU or Rotary Rotary is the cheapest, but it's pretty hard to get into, and has a long application process. AFS and YFU are easier to get into, but much more expensive. You can go for a year, semester, or summer.
  5. AFS they are great i went with them last year! you may even be able to get a scholarship and go FREE! good luck
