Why is the euro not the currency for buying oil in the world markets?

There are almost 200 million more people in the EU than in the USA. The majority of the people in the EU are well educated. Whereas in the US it is a minority. We are a more industrialised nation than the US and the Euro is probably a stronger currency than the dollar.

1. Last I checked The US was larger than the EU in GDP, and just because the Euro is stronger right now doesn't mean it always will be, go back to Amsterdam and your hooka.
2. Yes true, but remember that the Euro only came into existence a few years ago, so historically obviously it would have been necessary to use another currency.
