How do you find out if a foreign exchange program is decent?

I am looking at going to Germany with a foreign exchange program over the summer. Is there a list of approve programs? Are the programs not on this list "bad"?

I am currently an exchange student in Chile and i am with a programe called A.F.S They are very well organised, and have programes all over the world During the exchange they run orientations to make sure that everything is going well for you etc you have people to talk to that make sure you feel comftable in your family, and you will also meet alot of other exchange students from all over the world thier website is www.usa.afs.org
2. XDXDXD OMG!!! like the first person, i was also an exchange student in Chile with AFSXDXDXDXD ajajjajaajxDXDXD so funnyXDXDXD andXDXDXD yeah, AFS is pretty goodXD no exchange program is perfect, but AFS is one of the best... i highly suggest itXDXDXD take care!!!
3. AFS is a well known, well organized, quality program. I know of several students who went to Japan on the year long exchange and had good support. It is pricey though. Check with your local Rotary as well - they have great exchange programs.
